There is ANOTHER start up Pro league starting this Spring! There is a Team in Jacksonville who the Head Coach was the former OC for the Racers and he brought with him the DC of the Racers too! So you have the SFL, EFL and A1FL all fighting for Supremacy of the Pro Spring Leagues. IDK about all of this!!! I have to shake my head. Check it out: www.a1profootball.net/

What is a "Class A level professional football league"?
This one seems like it has much more of a regional setup, so lower travel costs. But still, three leagues? I'll believe it when I see it.

Wow, one of the cities with a team is in Phenix City, Alabama. I went there a couple times when I was at Ft. Benning, GA across the river. It's not very big and it was a real armpit of a town. A really curious place to put a team.....

Class A, as in the minor-league baseball classification: Major, AAA, AA, A+, A, Short A, Rookie+, Complex-based To see where it'd fit into the football scope of things: NFL, UFL/CFL/Arena, SFL/most indoor football, A1FL, followed by semi-pro and amateur ball. In other words, it'd be near the bottom of the football pyramid.

A really curious place to put a team..... Probably an effort to capitalize on the Fort. I agree, it's a weird place to put a team. And it certainly doesn't jibe with the other franchise locations, which are all fairly big cities, most of which have a record with pro ball. Dallas, of course, is the biggest. Jacksonville and Shreveport also have had multiple teams, and Jackson of course has the whole buzz with the UFL lately. One of these things is not like the other things...

I'm beginning to think this group is older than we thought. There is an old Facebook page from last year for this league, with the only difference being the website is .com instead of .net. No real information thought. So it may have been they tried to get going last year and failed. The .com website expired.

are we sure this is not a semi-pro league? do players actually get paid? It seems they will be paid, but how much we don't know. "The A1FL will provide players the opportunity to play professional football. For some of our players, it will be a dream come true to step on the field and play football (for compensation) once again."

Yeah I asked before I actually looked at the website. Sometimes I just want to send in my info as a player and see what they do with it

Worth a try unless they make you pay to register.

There's been little information on this league, except for an ad on craigslist for a tryout on October 29. But a conversation on UFLA got me thinking.
Larry Hendrix, the founder of this league owns an indoor football team, the Texas Crunch. While I think most of us agree that a connection with the UFL and an indoor football league wouldn't work, what about one of the spring leagues? While play is different, you still have some of the infrastructure in place in each city you play in. Depending on where you play, costs may even not be that different, except with the outdoor game you need more players. Just an idea rolling through my head. what do you think?

Well, the A1FL has cleaned up their website a bit and is advertising tryouts. They may be trying to make a go of it for 2012.
