There are new expansion cities listed on the SFL board. At least they are looking for coaches for those cities. We know in the past teams have disappeared without trace. There are a couple surprises there. "The Stars Football League is preparing for the second season, scheduled for April to July, 2012. The SFL is conducting a nationwide search for coaches to fill positions in the following venues: Charleston, SC, Austin, TX, San Antonio, TX, Canton, OH, Las Vegas, NV, Los Angeles, CA. The SFL will also consider expansion teams in other locations. " starsfootballleague.com/news/coast-coast-coaching-search-conducted-sfl/SA I would not have called and Canton only vaguely came up in our discussions. Do we keep the old four? Don't know yet, except Fort Lauderdale seems to be a go.

I like the idea of a L.A. team. They have to spend the time and money on Marketing the team or no one will know about it. Las Vegas....in a word.... NO. UFL flopped there and I don't see how a league with A LOT LESS MONEY can make it work.

Wow I sure hope they stay away from Vegas!!! But maybe they need their little hands burned on the stove like their older brother the UFL did to learn their lesson. Then again maybe, just maybe, if they aim low (as in not Sam Boyd stadium) they could succeed. As for the rest, I knew Austin had an announced investor but San Antonio is definately a surprise. Gatek99 should be tickled pink if they put a team in Canton, Ohio!

Will any of the teams have two head coaches?

Will any of the teams have two head coaches? I doubt it, it didn't seem to work for Michigan. Of course when you only get to play two games... Canton will be a huge help for Michigan, it's only 3 1/2 hours away.

Wow do they not know how bad Vegas is?
And if I still live in Ohio, I will have to check out a Canton game, however, I may be gone come the new year

I think Las Vegas is only being mentioned as a partner to Los Angeles, similar to the way San Antonio and Austin are being paired. I'm starting to see a bit of a trend as far as team locations: pairing two teams that are relatively close together:
- Daytona Beach/Fort Lauderdale - Las Vegas/Los Angeles - Canton/Michigan - Austin/San Antonio
Charleston and New Orleans, on the other hand, don't seem to fit. Maybe NO/Mobile, or Charleston with somewhere in NC or VA.
I'm thinking Hulthwaite plans to pair teams up so that he can build rivalries and play local teams cheaply and repeatedly multiple times in a season. It's a novel idea and one that is worth a shot.

I noticed that, too. Especially SA and Austin. At this point in time I'd ditch the west coast teams (sorry west coast people) just because it's too spread out for this type of "pairing' of teams to work. I'd also like to see the SFL develop tighter clusters of more than 2 teams so you could have divisions close together that could play each other regularily, instead of the contant same 2 teams playing each other all season (see Daytona-Lauderdale). Mobile would be great for New Orleans. Canton would be great for Michigan as well. Maybe bus the teams for half their games and fly them for the other half and you've already cut down significantly on travel costs for the league. Maybe Huthwaite really is on to something here......

If they are smart, west will only play west and east will only play east until the championship game. This is what the UIFL is doing to save huge costs on travel. And they split it up north and south (they only have a presence on the east coast)

Yes, but Vegas/LA is still pretty far from everyone else. You can't just have them play each other all year. Somebody most of thought of this, and think they have the money to pull it off. Whether they do or not is another story.

Whether they do or not is another story. How horrible would it be if they played a 10 game schedule next year and Vegas and LA played 8 out of the 10 games against each other, lol

Well, now we've got a new list with all the old cities plus three new ones, Miami, St Louis and Birmingham. Is Miami the Barracudas? Looks like they are still looking for owners of every team in the league with the exception of Michigan. "The Stars Football League, L.L.C., has opportunities for team ownership for qualified investors and sport aficionados. The SFL is offering team ownership opportunities for the following locations: Charleston, SC; Austin, TX; San Antonio, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Daytona Beach, FL; Miami, FL; New Orleans/Baton Rouge, LA; Canton, OH; St. Louis, MO; Little Rock, AR; Mobile, AL; Birmingham, AL. The SFL will also consider other venues with interested qualified parties." starsfootballleague.com/news/sfl-offering-team-ownership-opportunities-qualified-investors/I also notice our Commissioner put his son on the board of directors. What would UFLA have said if that would have happened in the UFL?

The new cities are an interesting mix. I'm not so sure the Barracuda would be moving given how much this league likes their bus trips. Havind another team so close by to Ft. Lauderdale gives them yet another rival to drive to if all these other far flung teams don't materialize.....As far as hiring his fresh faced kid right out of law school for league legal counsel, well......let's hope they have at least another experienced lawyer on thre payroll to help guide them. Since it seems to be a one man show right now I guess it's not as big a deal compared to the UFL with multiple owners. Hell, the kid's the first person the league has signed for anything the past fews months! lol

I really don't see that many jumping on board for 1.5M...that is a lot of money to spend on something like this. I can see owners coming on for 100k
