Too busy to update the website? Other than the press releases almost nothing has changed on the site since last summer. In this day and age does Huthwaite not realize the first thing a serious potential investor would do is google the league? And imagine their reaction when they click on "Team Info" and see that the "Cleveland Ironmen" play in Little Rock, Arkansas. That would just be the first of many inconsistencies on the site that would most likely cause a serious prospect to not take this league seriously. Their official site is their "first impression." But who's got time to make a good first impression when you're busy looking for deep pockets, right?
that may be why there are no owners..that and the fact you have to pay $1 million
The UFL, if I recall, wanted at least $10 million. For the caliber of league he wants to have, that kind of price tag isn't that far out of the norm. However, when it comes to pro sports, you can't be an island. You have to have investors lined up. Hulthwaite, however, doesn't seem to see that. He won't even hire a Webmaster, much less GMs and coaches without making them pay for the privilege of submitting a résumé.
Part of the fun of pro sports is the fact that these very rich multimillionaires and corporations go after each other. I don't know how many people remember back in '09-- you had Bud Adams and Ralph Wilson, both north of the age of 85, facing their teams off against each other as part of the American Football League 50th anniversary. When Adams' Tennessee Titans won, Adams gave Wilson the middle finger. It's truly team against team. A single-entity league doesn't have that dynamic.
Hulthwaite has the money to create at least a minor pro football league. What he doesn't seem to have are the connections to get other people (outside our little board) to want to watch or play against him.
It doesn't matter what field you're in, connections are key. Without them, you're nothing.
