So, with all three teams now tied at 1-1 in the standings, we head toward the penultimate game in the SFL's second season. The Daytona/Port St. Lucie Racers will be heading to (what we presume to be that cricket ground in) Fort Lauderdale as the league's de facto flagship franchise, the Barracudas, hosts its first home game of the season. According to the SFL Web site, it will be televised online.
I have to ask, is anyone still interested at this point?

I would have liked to see the stands, they claim they had a good crowd. I still care up to a point, at least the league is playing games. But the SFL has really taken several steps back from last year. Yes, streaming video is a good step. However, other than Ft Myers, I'm not sure the other cities even know they have teams. There is no media coverage in Daytona or Ft Lauderdale, nor do they have updated Facebook pages. And that's leaving aside the fact that there are only three teams.

The fact that they're playing games is the ONLY thing the SFL has going for it right now. Other than that, Petey has somehow found a way to make the UFL look positively marketing -savvy and high profile in comparision.....

And apparently no stream this week either... sheesh... I thought maybe it was just my Mac. Guess not. Maybe they didn't pay their streaming bill!

NO, I am more interested in my semi-pro league As am I. The local semi-pro squad has their home games broadcast on the local radio station and I get to listen to the games at work. What makes the league so amusing is that the local semi-pro squad's owner/coach/starting linebacker got himself a plum position as commissioner of the league. Then, a few weeks ago, after his team narrowly lost a competitive game against their fiercest rivals, the commissioner declared one of their players ineligible and forfeited the game into his team's hands. (He's really never been able to put a competitive team on the field despite his best efforts.) It's comical and, at the same time, sad, since that league was as recently as about five years ago one of the top semi-pro leagues in the country and had some great teams. Now, alas, they've gone way downhill. There've been a number of reports on how some of the better teams from other leagues have applied to join and how the commissioner said no to protect his own interests.

OK so does anyone know who actually won this game? Nope. Can't find anything in the news, and SFL still hasn't posted anything (and might not until Friday if things keep going at this pace). At this rate we'll be lucky if we get any game result at all.

And we have a final. With annotations: "Date Line Ft Lauderdale, FL: July 8th, 2012 (Although not posted until July 11) The Daytona Beach Racers defeated the Ft. Lauderdale Barracudas in a defensive struggle (read 'snore fest') on July 7th, 2012. The game was played in Ft. Lauderdale with a final score of SIX to ZERO (Does any league in the world really spell out their numbers like that?). The Ft. Lauderdale Barracudas will play against the Ft. Myers Swamp Dogs this Saturday, July 14th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL." (Which will not be televised.) starsfootballleague.com/news/daytona-beach-racers-beat-ft-lauderdale-barracudas/yes if you are writing an essay for english class. They need a kicker, they should sign me.

*snicker*
Daytona just clinched the regular season title, and that's all they wrote up? (I'll discuss that matter in another thread.)
