So, ladies and gents, here we are at the fifth and final game of the 2012 Stars Football League season. As stated in my last post, we're in the awkward position of having one of two distinct scenarios in play for this weekend's game: it could be meaningless or it could effectively be the playoffs. Now, in most leagues, there'd be some analysis of each of the teams' strengths and weaknesses and the like. However, given how little we know about these teams, perhaps some better predictions are in order: Now, if you actually want to keep pace with a league that has its act together, I recommend to you my local semi-pro squad, the Southern Tier Diesel, which is playing tonight at 5:30. The 1-4 Diesel are facing the league's best team, the Lyndonville Tigers. You can hear that game at the following link: streamdb3web.securenetsystems.net/v4/index.cfm?stationCallSign=WGWE&relocateURL=trueYou can also follow tonight's Canadian Football League game at 7:00, with the Battle of Ontario between the Toronto Argonauts and my personal favorite team, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. That game will be on www.espn3.com/ as well as an audio feed from player.900chml.com/ .

Though I suspect your answer of "probably not" is fairly likely. 2. Yes there will be a championship game, but nobody outside the teams playing will notice. 3. 4 days. I'd expect to see it by Wednesday.

Your answer to 1) so far is correct. I checked it around 9:15 and sure enough, no stream. (I wonder if Fort Pierce was the only stadium equipped for televising the game.) Flipped back to the CFL game (which again was a pretty good one) and watched the Ti-Cats win. As far as that other game, the Diesel got their rear ends handed to them, as pretty much could be expected.

Still nothing on the official site about the results of the game. Or anywhere else for that matter. The SFL Facebook page looks all but abandoned. If Huthwaite doesn't want a fanbase for his football league then he's doing a fantastic job of reaching that goal. So many wasted opportunities to sell his league to the public for next to nothing in cost. I don't understand what the point is of building a football league if you're not going to promote it.....

I think it's getting to the point where the SFL is probably close to dying. I think the only way it survives in any form is if Hulthwaite decides to attach himself to another league (indoor or outdoor, i.e. UFL or USFL) and bring one of his teams with him. However, the UFL in particular has a notoriety for overspending (something Hulthwaite has notoriously avoided) and is practically dead itself, while the USFL is still unknown. Unless, of course, he's just using it as a tax write-off.
