OK, if there is anybody still around, what do you think will happen next year?

Oh by the way, I have to bring this up. If you go to the SFL website home page, there is a picture of Pete in a horrible pink shirt holding the "2012 President Championship Trophy". Based on the wording, I think Pete is awarding it to himself as the champion 2012 President! There certainly are no pictures of players holding it, just Pete.

Hard to say. The league has spectacularly failed to meet the expectations the commissioner/owner has set for it. Media attention is nonexistent. Fan base is nonexistent. Revenue has to be pretty darn close to nonexistent. The only money they're possibly getting is from tryouts, and having constricted itself to Florida has to have hurt that one as well.
Considering that the league has hamstrung itself so much to this point, I don't think it comes back in 2013. If it does, it'll probably be the same hobbled, small-time, semi-pro outfit it has turned out to be so far, with increasingly inferior talent. I really don't think a smart businessman would do that, though, unless he's using the league as a tax write-off.

It does seem they have descended into oblivion pretty fast. With all the proposed new spring football league activity 9USFL,SPFL) it does seem hard to imagine the SFL surviving. Then again Pete is kind of a weird dude with what seems to be a Don Quixote complex. He may keep keep charging at windmills for awhile longer. Or he's just an egomaniac who doesn't know when to hang it up too......

So after a couple months of pretty much ignoring the SFL Official site i decided to see if it was even still alive. Looks like they announced 5 teams for the 2013 season kicking off next April. Lauderdale, Ft Myers, Ft Peirce, Daytona, and Miami. But then a couple weeks later they post they're looking to fill the head coaching job for New Orleans. The article does say the five "Southern teams that will be competing in 2013...." so maybe Petey is leaving himself some wiggle room by implying those aren't the only teams they're looking to field. Honestly, given the recent debacle that the UFL has put itself through, I'm desperate to find a legitimate Alt football league to follow. I really wish the UFL and the SFL either get their respective acts together or just go away........

Ok, well the UFL just went away. So will its demise have ANY benefit for the SFL? Will players gravitate towards the SFL just to have someplace to play? I'm not talking the NFL washouts or the guys on the cusp of making the NFL I'm thinking maybe the next tier guys they find in UFL tryouts. Smaller school standouts or rehabbing division I guys passed over in the past. Yes I'm grasping at straws the SFL could still be successful someday......

I'm still here. Maybe they will make it, maybe they won't. The thing I've learned from following the UFL, don't buy a hat for the team you may like because that team may not be around long enough to wear it to a game. I like supporting the little guy but along with that desire to see someone rise up out of the background and make it as a contender, I'm realistic, I know these things don't always work. So when one attempt fails, I move on to the next and right now the SFL is it. So, keep the updates coming cause.....I'm here. Oh, and by the way the Collegiate Sprint Football Facebook page has been BOOMING! I think we've had 40 like in the last two weeks. Come check it out. www.facebook.com/pages/Collegiate-Sprint-Football-League/307898672630756
