From the SFL Web site:
"The SFL announced today (January 11, 2013) that they have been negotiating with the major networks to air the 2013 games begging in April, and expect to make a formal announcement soon."
Does Mr. Hulthwaite realize how bad of an idea this really is?
First off, this league is only going to be a regional interest as long as it confines itself to Florida, as it continues to do. The major networks have no interest in a regional product.
Second, even if somehow the networks are interested, it would take lots and lots of money to actually get on the air. Take, for instance, the UFL. To even get on tiny CBS Sports Network, the UFL had to pay a seven-figure sum, which is probably more than the entire SFL's payroll.
This isn't the NFL, where the networks are willing to pay billions of dollars and eat the production costs to air a product to which they effectively hold no other rights. It's financial nonsense, really: if the NFL had to follow the same rules for getting on TV as the UFL or any other league, it would be so deep in red ink that it isn't even funny. The networks only want the NFL and are willing to lose their shirts for it (ahem, NBC).
He might be able to get on local TV, but considering they had radio in 2011 (and dropped it presumably because of cost), even that would probably be out of the SFL's reach.

the 2013 games begging in April, Are they begging that a network will broadcast them, or are they begging that games will begin in April? I find it hard to believe that any network would broadcast something as cheap and mistake filled as the SFL!
