The SFL championship game will be Saturday, July 6 at 7:15 p.m. The Miami Ironmen will be taking on the Pompano Swampdogs. Considering the Ironmen haven't lost all year, they have to be considered the favorite.

The expected attendance will probably be one: Peter Huthwaite

After listening to Pete talk at half time of the game, I think I've finally figured him out. He's built this league up on the cheap, with the idea that he'll be able to attract investors, based on the idea of longevity. That's why the games are all in FL, and even at the same stadium, to save money. But he can then sell it by pointing out the league has been in operation longer than the WFL, XFL, or USFL and just as long as the UFL. Of course, in operation is stretching the point a bit, but since they don't a decent website, you can't go back and research that problem.

And since I know you're dying to know, Miami beat the Swampdogs 21 to 6.

Professional football is ridiculously expensive and if Hulthwaite can prove it is viable (and every indication with the UFL is that it was most definitely not), investors will eventually come. The only problem is, in its current configuration, it takes being as cheap as Hulthwaite to make it work, at least at the 11-man level... and that isn't generally a very attractive product. Even the UFL had to be cheaper than the NFL and lost tens of millions every year regardless. Can pro football be done outside the NFL? I think so. Can 11-man, multi-platoon pro football be done outside the NFL? Not a chance in this environment.

And since I know you're dying to know, Miami beat the Swampdogs 21 to 6. Probably because the Swampdogs have co-head coaches with two different game plans.
