Well, we have a new message from the SFL which tells us..basically what we already knew. It sounds more like a sales pitch for investors than anything else. A couple interesting things though. "The SFL management team has developed a winning business model as well as a quality sports model." Yes you can control costs, but doesn't a successful sports business model include getting people to come to/watch the games? Is the business model to get players to pay more for tryouts, not to mention coaches or GM's? “The league is targeting eight to ten additional teams for the 2012 season which begins early in April, 2012." Last time they just said eight. We know what happens when you expand too fast. Teams fail. "The League is planning tryouts by regions of the US, Europe and China." China? starsfootballleague.com/news/2149/

Kim Leonard Mosby of the efl is saying that the SFL 's Pete Huxley has contacted him about merging with the SFL. Mr. Huxley supposedly asked Kim, "What about doing something together - merging the two leagues." When Kim declined then Pete supposedly asked Kim to drop the efl and buy a franchise in the SFL. Kim declined because during the conversation it was revealed that the SFL lost $1.5 million in 2011.

In any league there are going to be startup costs, and when you pay players, that makes the costs even higher. Since the SFL had so few fans at the games, there was little income to offset the costs. The SFL has to get serious about getting fans to games this year or they can forget it.

When you add up the dozens of teams proposed in the next year of two for the SFL, EFL, etc it makes your head spin. Yes, there are more investors at the million dollar level out there than say the 30 Mil level that the UFL is looking for. But in this economy are there enough to fund multiple start up leagues in the same time frame? I kind of doubt it. I would be happy with one stable 8-10 team start up league over multiple shaky ones....

Well the league is still looking for owners. Does this mean they have several and want to add more? Or is that they still need new blood to make things work?
I have a feeling this announcement could mean new teams popping up at the last minute. And based on past experience, they could be anywhere.

I have a feeling they have very few owners. Seriously guys, who is going to buy a team for millions? If they were charging 10k I can see it, but a million? ?? Seriously...

Still sounds like Hulthwaite's carrying the league on his own... which doesn't surprise me. Quite a valiant effort for one man, though.

If he started offering teams for the price of arena teams, people would buy in

I tried to find that and didn't have much luck. It used to be $20 million before they went bankrupt. The only figure I can find for the new version is "less that $10 million." Not very helpful.

I meant indoor teams, 10K-30K
1 million is way too much for something this calibur, especially when they pay their GM's around $500 a month
