I know this article is from July, when the season is just starting. But it gives some information on the leagues intentions for 2012, plus an idea of some of their costs, in this case the Daytona stadium lease. www.myhometownnews.net/index.php?id=82734

Wow, 5k a game to use the stadium in Daytona Beach? If the UFL could've secured prices like that for their venues they could've saved some major cash. Granted the venues for the SFL aren't of the same caliber but it is only the beginning. I wonder what they pay to use Tad Gormley Field in New Orleans?

I'm thinking the same thing, if they're only paying 5k plus expenses, that's on about the same level as Rosenblatt was, which was only charging 10k. The Tuskers could have relocated there, still been able to keep some of the fan base that was still in Orlando (it's not that far of a drive) and had a decent draw. But then again, I don't think folding the Tuskers was all about the Tuskers-- I suspect it was more of an attempt to prop up the Destroyers and not have it fail before its first game (something they're still struggling to do even after the Colonials' suspension).

I remember the talk about moving the Tuskers to Daytona and had I known this at the time it would of been all over UFLA. Yes, the UFL must of known how little they could've secured the Daytona venue for if they had actually been interested in doing so. OK, well time to move on from the past and find a new home for the Tuskers in the SFL!

There is one caveat: the stadium was under renovation last year, so it might not have been available until recently. Still, it should have been ready for this year, anyway, and if they're willing to expand the 6k Sportsplex, then how much of a stretch would it be to expand the 10k stadium in Daytona, especially when you were barely drawing that much in Orlando in the first place?

The SFL just needs to spend this off season hiring the right people. At the moment it seems like the Commish and the Coaches are the only league personnel. With the UFL likely to fall apart at the end of the season, or sooner. The SFL could pick up a ton of talented players and personnel. This league could work.

"There is speculation that there won’t be a Daytona franchise next year due to poor attendance. The Racers failed to fill the 10,000-seat Municipal Stadium during three home games. Their highest fan total was 600."
And what was the attendance at Ft Lauderdale and New Orleans?
Daytona seemed to be the team with the most publicity and support.

It's hard to imagine the league making decisions about keeping a team based on attendance. Considering they didn't do any real marketing to begin with. And had a haphazard first season. i think it's too early to speculate on where teams will be next year though I'm hoping we'll start to get a better picture in the next 90 days for sure.

Attendance was poor? Attendance was poor in all cities and had like 3 games with no marketing. How can you move a team based on that?
