So, I was looking at some things on Wikipedia in regards to minor league basketball and I came across this. Has anyone heard of this league? empire-football-league.com/

Also when you go to the page check out the site for the "Watertown Red and Black" The oldest football team in the country.

Looks like they don't pay the players though. I know they describe themselves as semi-pro, but Wikipedia would describe them as amateur.

EFL's been around as a league since the 1960s. They're primarily an amateur league, although the R&B has paid its players in the past a nominal sum (not sure if they still do, but I think it was on the order of about $30 a game-- hardly professional by any standard).
As for the R&B, they have a guy who constantly cuts and pastes the team-written history into the article-- slanted, of course, to their views of what's important-- so keep that in mind.
The EFL is one of a declining number of regional amateur leagues. A lot of the amateur organizations are going national or super-regional (e.g. North American Football League, U.S. Football Alliance, Elite Mid-Continental Football League). They're actually one of two in upstate NY, the other being the Northeastern Football Alliance (NFA), although the NFA is based further west.

That's a new one to me. Can't say I've ever heard of it.
