Does anyone understand why some teams are playing twice as many games as others? How exactly do they plan to decide who plays in the Title game if some teams play 6 games but others only play 3? Or is the entire schedule just not out yet?

According to wikipedia, which proves to be a better source then the website, The season started with only 2 teams (Daytona & Ft Lauderdale) and "phased" in 2 more teams later in the season (New Orleans & Michigan). The other teams (Mobile, Charleston, Little Rock, Las Vegas) will not play this season.
Its kinda like someone said "The UFL's inaugural season couldn't have been worse" and the SFL is proving them wrong

No doubt an awful way to start with only 2 teams But at least they've now played a couple games which is more than can be said for alot of startup leagues. Just don't understand yet how the "Champion" will be determined at the end of the season.

My guess is that they will just have the 1st place team play the 3rd place team and 2nd and 4th play eachother with the winners playing eachother in a championship game.

That's one way to keep every team involved! lol But realistically having 8 teams next year (hopefully) will allow a couple divisions to form and create a decent playoff system.

I did see on one player's Facebook page that the season ends in September. But the league's 2011 schedule only shows 9 games through the end of August. So maybe......they have a few more games planned but not established yet. Just don't know.....

This is just a guess, but I wonder if this isn't playing out as just an exhibition season. We're showing we can put together real teams and have real games. Then next year they can work the kinks out of it and have a real season.
If your choice is this or waiting until next year, do you do it this way or take the NUSFL route?

I think this is the SFL's version of a "soft launch." Which worked out well for the UFL, right? lol

A story on the official site reports Commisioner Huthwaite as saying the season runs until the "end of August." So I guess that answers my previous question. So it looks like 9 games is what it's going to be then. Still looking for info on the "Title Game."

We just had another schedule change. Michigan now gets a home game against the Barracudas on Aug 20, at Wisner stadium (capacity 6600). It's basically a high school facility now, built in the 40's.

the sfl has 2 teams playing 6 games and 2 teams playing 3 games. the coyotes and jazz dosent even play. how hard is it to make a 4 team schedule. i heard there might not be a title game, that they might name the team with the best record as champs. i can see that if the schedule was even, but how many times can the cudas and the racers play each other,

Daytona and Ft. lauderdale are only a couple hours apart by bus so i guess if they want games in the books but don't want to spend alot they keep shuttling them back and forth to play each other. Not saying that's the best way to stage a season but it's probably the cheapest. Now that Michigan finally has a home game that might change a bit. As far as playing at a 6600 seat stadium I think that'll be about 6000 more than what they'll need anyway.
